Live Calls with Kristine, Debra & Guests

9 hours* every month of real-time interactivity with us.
Join us for the Zoom calls that work in your schedule.

Ask the Author

Once a month, join us for this live, 1-hour Zoom call led by New York Times bestselling author Kristine Carlson. This interactive Q&A session is a fun and fruitful opportunity to discuss a wide variety of topics—from the craft of writing a high-impact nonfiction book to author platform-building to branding and more. There will be lots of time for members to share about their process, discoveries, and breakthroughs. Kristine will be joined by Debra Evans (the other half of the Book Doulas, as well as occasional visiting guest speakers. (These calls are recorded and the replay is available within 48 hours.)

Ask the Editor

Every week, join us for this live, 1-hour Zoom call led by acclaimed developmental book editor Debra Evans. Bring any questions you have about your nonfiction book—most specifically self-help books of all kinds and teaching memoirs. What would help you to move forward with your writing? Because these gatherings take place four times every month, you can use them to your best advantage – whether you want help deciding where to begin or to refine pages you’ve already written, whatever will accelerate your progress and sweeten the experience of writing your book. Topics will include genre, the core structure of your book, chapter structure, content flow, clarifying or further articulating the process you’re taking your readers through, integrating your informative or instructional writing with your stories, how to connect more powerfully with your reader, and more. These calls take place every Thursday from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm Pacific time, starting on May 16th.

Reading Hour

Once a month, join us for this live, 1-hour call where approximately six members each month will have an opportunity to read a piece of their writing. Each person also has the option of receiving feedback from us, the Book Doulas, if they choose–quick, laser-coaching. The container for these gatherings is one of deep safety, supportiveness, attentiveness, and celebration. The empowerment and upliftment these events offer–both for the writers who read their material and those listening–is a thing of beauty. Like watering a gorgeous plant, it’s confirmation of how each of us thrive when we are witnessed, seen, heard, and affirmed. (Details pertaining to how to sign up to be on the list to read, as well as the maximum word-count for the piece you choose to share with us, will be provided in the membership portal).

Spirit Writer

Once a month, join Kristine and Debra for this live, 1-hour call that is sheer inspiration and nourishment for your creative self. Whereas the other calls focus a bit more on the yang side of writing, Spirit Writer is all about the yin side of the equation. The focus is on being rather than doing. It’s about the feminine qualities (in both women and men) that have everything to do with receptivity, opening to your inner guidance, asking spirit for direction and answers in your writing process (or in any aspect of your life as an author-entrepreneur, teacher, healer, coach, etc.). Topics we will focus on at various times will include self-care for the writer, aligned writing practices, your writing space (environment), your writing schedule and optimal times to write (and how to adjust when necessary), ways to prepare yourself for various phases of your creative journey, how to remain open to inspiration on a regular bases, how important it is to not write sometimes, and more. (These calls are recorded and the replay is available within 48 hours.)

The full schedule of the monthly and weekly calls is provided upon enrollment.

*The 9 hours of interactive time with us includes our monthly Writing Boot Camp as well. See below for details.

Monthly Writing Boot Camps

Whenever it serves your goals and process, join us for our popular Saturday Writing Boot Camps. Exclusively for members, the boot camps take place one Saturday each month, and provide a simple yet effective structure for taking massive action toward your writing goals.

In a nutshell: (1) Set your intention, (2) write (or research, organize, or do other book-focused activity), (3) share your work during the second Zoom gathering (if you’d like), and (4) enjoy the pleasure of making progress.

Your 4-hour, self-directed work session:
11:00 AM to 3:00 PM Pacific time

Closing session via Zoom:
3:00 – 4:00 PM Pacific time

A note about timing . . .
If it’s convenient for you, you can join us for the entire six-hour time frame, including the
morning and afternoon Zoom gatherings (California Pacific time).
Or . . .
if you’re in a later time zone, such as the US East Coast or Europe, another option is to
join us for the first Zoom call only (to discuss your desired goals and set a clear intention),
and then implement your work session plan the next morning in your part of the world
(skipping our second Zoom call that takes place from 3-4pm Pacific).
In other words, participate in the boot camp in the way that works best for you.

Our area of expertise is nonfiction — with a special focus on transformational self-help books and teaching memoirs (a hybrid of memoir and self-help).

That said, we welcome writers whose focus is fiction if they wish to utilize the Writer’s Circle for the community it offers and the various structures it provides (with our weekly and monthly live calls, our monthly writing boot camps, and the resources inside our portal, such as the project tracker and the One Chapter Challenge).

Additionally, the information and conversations we have that focus on author platform-building are useful to both nonfiction and fiction writers.

Private coaching is not included inside the Writer’s Circle. Please visit our Services page to see our private coaching options. Also, keep in mind that although it’s not the same as private coaching, we will be able to address many of your specific questions and considerations during our lives calls — especially during our weekly “Ask the Editor” calls with Debra.

Offered once per year, our Book Incubator Program takes place over a period of 10 consecutive weeks. It’s a powerhouse process where we offer our participants a highly distilled course in how to build or expand their author platform, the ins and outs of author branding, publishing pathways options, and information on book marketing and book launch best practices.

The primary difference is that the Book Incubator centers around our Book Doulas’ 10-Part Blueprint. The Blueprint is the guide we have created— based on our combined years of book-writing, editing, and publishing experience — to help new authors develop their concept into a fully-formed book they will be proud to share with the world. A book that is compelling, clear, cohesive, and deeply connective with the reader. A book that is genuinely uplifting and inspiring.

You can cancel at any time. For members who have signed up for the six-month or annual subscriptions, we are not able to offer refunds for months not used.
